Two coastlines seperated by 5 days and 3,000 miles.

Just returned from the beautiful beaches around the Hamptons USA and I am now on the island of Anglesey, Wales, for my 50th consecutive holiday in as many years.  Here are some shots as the sun went down last night.

Here are pictures from my recent shoot in Westport Connecticut on the beach and it was HOT.  The face says it all !!!

Most of us pick up a camera when we have a real need to record something.  This could be on holiday, a birthday or Christmas time.  Many even take it to the next stage and head out with a camera in the hope of capturing an award winning image.  But how many of us carry a camera with us all the time (and I’m not counting phones)?  Think about how many images we would take if that was the case.  This shot was captured yesterday as I was driving through the Ribble Valley.  I pulled the car over and grabbed the camera to take advantage of the perfect light and interesting cloud formation.  This shot cannot be replicated which is why we should always carry a camera.

Well it was a perfect day for the beach and to make it even better, I had the company Emma and Lorna with their magnificent horses.  Perfect day, perfect subjects…..and the shots are pretty good too!

Here are my recent food images from The Freemason’s Arms in Wiswell.  The pictures were produced for the Live Ribble Valley Magazines.  Steve Smith, the chef/patron brings his immense experience and unique talent to this establishment, producing exquisite food.  If you love great food then this should be added high on your list of places to visit.

David and Stella’s wedding at Stanley House

Yesterday I had the delight of photographing the wedding of David and Stella at Stanley House in Mellor.  It was a cold and windy June day, in fact it was more like November!  It was the first wedding at Stanley House to take place completely in the open air and these 2 were undeterred by the weather conditions.  They showed great fun and spirit and carried on regardless.  Someone once told me that you can’t take great pictures of people unless it’s given to you.  Thank you David and Stella for giving me these.

In food photography, one of the most difficult things to capture is any dish that is flat like pizza or soup.  To combat this, add colour and texture to create interest

Photography has become more accessible than ever before which can only be a good thing.  It means we can capture anything at anytime.  However, there is no substitute for a professionally taken portrait.  Here is the only one of me from deep in the last century.

I find that people often have a distorted view of the life of a photographer.  It is time to dispell the myth and reveal that it isn’t all fashion shoots and beautiful models.
